Temple on the sea

Here is a very grainy video (taken on the mobile) of a wonderful little, slightly dilapidated old temple near Calicut in North Kerala. Perched on a tall cliff near the sea, the only sound you can hear as you stand in front of the temple are the breakers rolling in from the shores of Araby. Calicut was an old port of Malabar, the centre of the ancient spice trade, which incidentally was the world’s first era of gloabalisation. Standing at this spot, wedged against the sea on one side and the tall, untouched tropical forest on the other, this little temple offers a real sense of history.
